Canada Day at the Alberta Legislature

7:00 am - 5:00 pm

If you’re interested in free family fun this Canada Day, the Alberta Legislature is the place to be. Highlights this year include an autograph session with Alberta’s Olympic athlete and a dragon dance performed by the National Congress of Chinese Canadians. As usual, the jam-packed day will kick off at 7 a.m. with a pancake breakfast followed by the Canada Day 15-km race and the 2.5-km fun run.

Beginning at 11 a.m. a variety of events and activities to delight kids of all ages will take place all across the north grounds, including K-9 Korruption Dog Sports, balloon creations and Kent Wong the Magician. As well, a variety of musical and dance entertainment will run throughout the afternoon. New to the lineup this year is the French-Canadian dance troupe Zéphyr.

A couple of must-sees include taking a trip to the pedway to enjoy Architecture and Power, an exhibit focusing on the architecture of Canadian Legislatures, and the LEGOslature, a metre-tall model of the Legislature Building constructed of 120,000 LEGO parts.

Visit the grounds on Canada Day and enter a draw to win fabulous prizes.

11:00 am - 3:00 pm - Royal Lawn Bowling Matches

11:30 am - 12:30 pm - Alberta’s Olympic athlete autograph session in pedway

12:00 pm - 21-Gun Salute by 20th Field Regiment Royal Canadian Artillery

12:00 pm - 4:00 pm - Canada Day kid’s activities – balloons & jumpy things

12:00 pm - 5:00 pm - Architecture and Power Exhibition, Family activities, musical and dance performances and dog sports
